Subject: HealthierUS School Challenge Bronze Category Addition
 
    I am pleased to announce that as of October 1, 2007, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has added a Bronze category to the HealthierUS School Challenge.  This Bronze category allows elementary schools with an average daily participation (ADP) of 62 percent to enter the Challenge. This is an exciting opportunity for schools that previously could not meet the 70 percent ADP requirement needed for the Gold/Silver category to apply.  USDA will also be providing a congratulatory banner to schools that win the Challenge, so they can proudly display their achievements for all in the community to see.  This is prestigious recognition for a school, and I encourage all that are eligible to apply.
