| Subject: | Districts that received excess fund balance letters June 4-8, 2007 |
Our office has received several calls from concerned school districts disputing the information received in the letters indicating that they had lunch fund balances in excess of the three months average expenditure level allowed by federal regulations 7CFR Part 210.14b. The figures should have matched the figures submitted by their business officials to the State Aid office in the ST3 for the period from July 1, 2005 through June 30, 2006.
We checked with the State Aid office that provided us the list of districts with excessive fund balances and they discovered there was an error in the list affecting sponsors in counties Rockland through Yates (alphabetically listed). All districts in Rockland through Yates counties that actually do have an excess fund balance will be reissued letters with corrected figures. If you received a letter originally but do not receive another letter from us in the next few days, you do not have an excessive fund balance. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
